5 Creative Podcasts We’re Listening To

ShopTalk Designer, Jack Harness, picks his top selection of creative podcasts to listen to.
As the British summer rolls in and we continue to venture no further than our back gardens with a tin of supermarket lager ShopTalk decided it was worth sharing some of our time-passing ‘go-tos’ in the run-up to these anticipated, yet well deserved, summer months. Let’s go…
NUMBER #1 – NEVER NOT CREATIVE
In at number 1 we have Never Not Creative – As with all of the following recommendations this podcast, is of course, aimed at creatives. Describing themselves as a community, NNC’s mission is “working together to make sure that the world is never not creative”. NNC covers everything from creative meaning and purpose to international women’s day, side hustles, trends, diversity – and of course, they have many conversations with industry insiders – basically, if it’s impacting our industry, there is a discussion to be had!

HELPING PEOPLE IN THE CREATIVE INDUSTRY TO GET ANSWERS TO THE UN-ASKABLE
NUMBER #2 – METHOD IN THE MADNESS
Our second podcast on the list comes from the mind of Gregor Matheson. Whether creativity, leadership, design insight or creative progression is your bag, Method in the Madness has something for everyone. Matheson describes what he does as simply “sitting down with individuals from all walks of life, picking their brains and finding out the ‘why’ and ‘how’ behind ‘what’ they do.” Previous guests – to name just a few – include Gavin Strange (Aardman Animations), Duncan Wardle (Disney) and Vibha Bamba (AirBNB).
NUMBER #3 – CREATIVE REBELS
Founders of Graffiti Life, Adam Brazier and David Speed are sitting at number 3 with their podcast, Creative Rebels. Their mission, “Empowering the next generation of creatives”. Frequently featured as Spotifys top podcast to ‘Fuel your Creativity’ this podcast involves the guys not only sharing their story but listening to the stories of other creatives from all over the world, the underlying agenda being that they want to help creatives ‘make it’.

WE TALK ABOUT WHAT WE’RE PASSIONATE ABOUT; CREATIVITY, MINDSET, ENTREPRENEURIALISM AND HOW TO BE HAPPIER AND MORE FULFILLED IN A CREATIVE CAREER.

NUMBER #4 – CREATIVE BOOM
Hosted by the founder of Creative Boom, Katy Cowan, The Creative Boom Podcast celebrates, inspires, and supports the creative community through a series of interviews, tips and ideas all of which are centered around the journeys and lives of some of the best creative talent around the world.
NUMBER #5 – HOW I BUILT THIS
How I Built This with Guy Raz is an American podcast all about “innovators, entrepreneurs, idealists, and the stories behind the movements they built”. With his delectable charm and wit, Raz takes us on a journey through his conversations with entrepreneurs, pioneers and business owners, and picks the brains of the people behind some of the world’s best known companies. It’s essentially “Years of business wisdom distilled into an entertaining and useful narrative.” Previous guests include M. Night Shyamalan, Jo Malone & Kevin Hart.
Enjoy your podcast, enjoy your beer, and enjoy this intermittent but beautiful sunshine.
