ShopTalk London started with a pub conversation after work. One of hundreds of conversations where we found ourselves talking shop.

Those conversations have taken us on some amazing adventures, from part-owning a pub in Mayfair to the internal terminal at SFO, to wearing hard hats planning exciting new UK start-up projects.

Duck & Waffle Local

The
Hook.

The team behind Duck & Waffle had an ambitious plan. To bring the dishes from their iconic Heron Tower restaurant to street level, making the whole experience as accessible as possible to the London community. In doing so shaking up the London restaurant scene with a brand new concept – duck focussed, chef curated, fast casual dining.

Using a good brand agency is integral to conveying to the public what you’re trying to do, and when you get it right, it's priceless. ShopTalk certainly got it right with us, with a tricky brief, and it was a real pleasure to be on the creative journey with them.

The
Build.

When we came together, there was a name – Duck & Waffle Local, a strong sense of the experience the customers should have, and the core elements that the new restaurant would stand by. At ShopTalk we worked in close collaboration with the Duck & Waffle team to further define and develop these elements into pillars, to ensure the heart of the brand was true, clear, strong and focussed in on the customer. Working out from these we defined a language, tone of voice and visual style for the restaurant itself, as well as for its presence & communication in all on and off-line channels.

Talking
Points.

To date, we have worked together to produce an iconic logo, colour pallette & font selection, and a language & tone that properly reflect the ideals that the restaurant stands on and the service it strives to provide. From these core elements, we have also personally designed or overseen the design and copy work for signage, window vinyls, menus, takeaway packaging, clothing, the website and social media channels.
