Google are up to so many cool little projects that it’s easy for something to go by unnoticed. A friend recently showed me a new(ish) feature for Google Maps which allows you to view 3D buildings in Map view mode.
Here’s the science bit…they use a new technology called WebGL (that’s Web-based Graphics Library to us normal folk) which brings 3D graphics to your browser without having to install any additional software or plugins. Very clever indeed.
Want to experience it yourself? If you have the correct browser and OS a box should appear on the bottom left of the google maps left-hand panel…and if that doesn’t make sense just click here.
